Motion capture
Also known as: Mocap
The process of recording the movement of objects or people, typically using optical systems with reflective markers, depth cameras, or body-worn sensors. Motion capture is used in accessibility research to create ground-truth datasets for developing assistive body-tracking technologies, and in entertainment to enable inclusive gaming and virtual reality experiences. Traditional optical motion capture systems can be expensive and require controlled environments, driving interest in more accessible alternatives like IMU-based tracking.
