Occupational therapy
Also known as: OT
A healthcare profession focused on enabling people to participate in meaningful daily activities (occupations) by addressing physical, cognitive, sensory, and environmental barriers. Occupational therapists assess individual abilities, recommend and customize assistive technologies, adapt environments, and train compensatory strategies. In accessibility technology contexts, OTs are critical stakeholders who bridge the gap between technology design and individual user needs — they understand both the clinical requirements of their clients and the practical constraints of educational and workplace settings, making them essential partners in co-design and deployment of assistive devices.
