Dichoptic presentation
Also known as: Dichoptic display, Dichoptic filtering, Dichoptic stimulation
A technique in which different visual information is presented separately to each eye, typically using color-filtered glasses (red-cyan or red-green anaglyph), polarized lenses, or head-mounted displays. In clinical settings, dichoptic presentation is used as a therapeutic approach for amblyopia and other binocular vision disorders, where the weaker eye receives higher-contrast or more salient visual content to encourage the brain to use both eyes together. In research, it is used to study binocular rivalry, depth perception, and visual processing. The method is also relevant to accessibility of 3D media and stereoscopic displays, which inherently rely on dichoptic presentation.
