Embroidered Braille
Braille text produced using machine embroidery rather than traditional embossing methods. Embroidered braille uses raised stitch patterns (typically candlewick knots) to create the dots of braille cells on fabric. While embroidered braille offers the advantage of integration with embroidered tactile graphics on a single piece of fabric, it presents challenges: the dots tend to be softer and more widely spaced than traditionally embossed braille, making initial reading more difficult. Research shows that with practice, readers adapt to embroidered braille, but further optimization of dot size, spacing, and stitch density is needed.
