Gyroscope
Also known as: Gyro Sensor
A sensor that measures rotational velocity around one or more axes, detecting how quickly a device is being turned or twisted. Combined with accelerometers in an inertial measurement unit, gyroscopes provide detailed motion tracking that enables gesture recognition, orientation detection, and spatial interaction. In assistive technology, gyroscope data helps distinguish between different hand gestures such as tilts, flicks, and rotations that can serve as command inputs for users who cannot interact with touchscreens.
