Eyes-Free Interaction
Also known as: Eyes-Free Computing
Interaction with digital devices and interfaces without requiring visual attention to a screen. Eyes-free interaction is essential for blind users but also benefits sighted users in contexts where looking at a screen is unsafe (driving), impractical (exercising), or socially inappropriate. Design strategies for eyes-free interaction include audio feedback, haptic feedback, spatial audio, gesture input, and voice commands. The concept extends beyond blindness to encompass any situation where visual attention is unavailable or should be directed elsewhere.
