Hands-Free Interaction
Also known as: Hands-Free Computing, No-Hands Input, Hands-free, Hands-free Computing
The ability to operate digital devices and interfaces without using the hands, typically through voice commands, eye tracking, head movements, foot controls, or brain-computer interfaces. Hands-free interaction is critical for users with upper limb motor impairments, amputations, or conditions like quadriplegia, and also benefits users in situational contexts where hands are occupied. While voice is the most common hands-free input method, it can be impractical in noisy or public environments, motivating research into alternative hands-free approaches.
