Fatigue
Also known as: Disability-Related Fatigue, Physical Fatigue
A common symptom across many disabilities and chronic conditions characterized by persistent exhaustion that is disproportionate to activity level and not fully relieved by rest. In technology and VR accessibility, fatigue has specific implications: users may have limited energy budgets that constrain how long they can interact with systems, physical interaction paradigms that require sustained movement can exhaust users quickly, and the cognitive load of navigating inaccessible interfaces can compound physical fatigue. Accessible design should account for fatigue by offering non-exhausting interaction alternatives and allowing users to moderate their physical engagement over time.
