Tactile Display

Also known as: Haptic Display

A device that presents information through the sense of touch, using raised elements, vibrations, or other tactile stimuli to convey data that would typically be presented visually. Tactile displays serve as assistive technology for blind and low vision users, enabling access to graphical information, maps, diagrams, and user interfaces. They range from simple static raised-line displays to dynamic refreshable displays with individually controllable pins. Key design considerations include the size of the tactile area, resolution of tactile elements, available control mechanisms, and the software interfaces that drive the content.
