Tactile User Interface

Also known as: Tactile UI, TUI

A user interface designed to be operated and understood through the sense of touch, enabling interaction for blind and low vision users. Tactile user interfaces may include physical buttons with tactile markings, raised icons, textured surfaces that indicate different functional areas, and touch-sensitive surfaces that respond to finger placement and gestures. In the context of 2D tactile displays, tactile UIs enable users to navigate file systems, explore graphics, and interact with applications through a combination of physical controls and tactile feedback on the display surface. Effective tactile UI design requires attention to element spacing, tactile distinguishability, and logical spatial organization.
