Confirmation Dialogue

Also known as: Confirmation Dialog, Verification Prompt

An interaction pattern where a system summarizes a proposed action and asks the user to confirm before executing it. In accessible calendar design and voice assistant interactions, confirmation dialogues are critical for preventing errors—users want the system to summarize scheduling actions ("Creating a meeting with John at 3pm on Tuesday. Is that correct?") before executing them. Research with BLV users shows that confirmations should be concise rather than verbose, summarizing key details without overwhelming users with information. The need for confirmation reflects users' anxiety about AI reliability and the difficulty of detecting and correcting errors after the fact, particularly for BLV users who cannot quickly visually scan for mistakes.
