Natural Language Command
Also known as: Natural Language Input, Conversational Command
A user input expressed in everyday spoken or written language rather than structured syntax or specific command formats. In accessibility contexts, natural language commands enable BLV users to interact with systems without memorizing precise command structures or navigating complex visual interfaces—for example, saying "Schedule a meeting with Sarah next Tuesday at 2pm" instead of filling out multiple form fields. Voice assistants and AI systems increasingly support natural language commands, but reliability challenges include misinterpretation of dates, times, and names, difficulty with complex multi-step requests, and loss of conversational context. Effective natural language systems require robust error handling and confirmation mechanisms.
