Eye Gaze Technology

Also known as: Eye Control Technology, Gaze Control

Technology that tracks and responds to eye movements, enabling users to control electronic devices using only their eyes. Eye gaze technology typically uses infrared cameras to track pupil position and gaze direction, allowing users to move cursors, make selections, type text, control environmental devices, and communicate. Originally requiring expensive dedicated hardware, eye gaze capabilities are increasingly available on mainstream devices through front-facing cameras and machine learning. Speech-language pathologists play a key role in assessing candidacy and supporting adoption of eye gaze technology.
