NGO Intervention

Also known as: Non-Governmental Organization Intervention, Civil Society Intervention

Programs and initiatives led by non-governmental organizations to address gaps in public services, including education, healthcare, and assistive technology provision for people with disabilities. In India, NGOs like Vision Empower and Winvinaya Foundation have become critical actors in bridging educational gaps for children with vision impairments, providing teacher training, tactile STEM materials, assistive smartphones, and inclusive curricula that government systems fail to deliver. While NGO interventions can be transformative for the schools they reach, their coverage is fragmented, geographically limited, and dependent on external funding, making them an insufficient substitute for systemic institutional reform.
