Experiential Learning Theory
Also known as: ELT
An educational theory emphasizing the value of hands-on experiences and reflection in learning. Developed by David Kolb, it posits that effective learning occurs through a cycle of concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. In sign language education, experiential learning supports the use of games, avatar-based interactions, and real-world practice scenarios rather than purely instructional approaches, as learners benefit from physically producing signs and receiving immediate feedback.
