UNCRPD

Also known as: United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, CRPD

An international human rights treaty adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2006 that articulates the rights of people with disabilities across all areas of life, including employment, education, health, and participation in society. The UNCRPD represents a paradigm shift from viewing disability as a medical or charity issue to recognizing it as a human rights concern. It has been ratified by over 180 countries and serves as the primary international framework for disability rights policy, requiring states to ensure accessibility, non-discrimination, and reasonable accommodations in all domains.
