Tactile Modelling
Also known as: Tactile Demonstration, Touch-Based Instruction
A teaching technique used in movement and dance education for blind and low-vision learners, where the student physically explores the teacher's body position by touch to understand the shape, form, and spatial relationships of a pose or movement. While effective for communicating bodily form, tactile modelling has limitations: it can be intrusive or uncomfortable for some learners, may not convey dynamic aspects of movement like timing and flow, and can be impractical for complex movements that are too fast or involve the whole body simultaneously.
