Human-AI Alignment
Also known as: AI Alignment, Value Alignment
The design and training of AI systems to exhibit behaviours consistent with human values, intentions, and goals. In accessibility, human-AI alignment requires that AI systems accurately represent and respond to the diverse values and experiences of disabled and neurodivergent users, rather than defaulting to normative assumptions derived from majority-group training data. Misalignment occurs when AI outputs conflict with users' self-understanding, misrepresent their abilities, or impose expectations that do not reflect their lived experience.
