Modifier Tactile Pattern
Also known as: Modifier Tacton, Compound Tacton
A vibrotactile design technique that combines two or more independent Tactons, each conveying a separate parameter, into a single composite pattern. Changing one component modifies one dimension of meaning while the other remains constant, allowing multiple pieces of information to be communicated simultaneously through touch. For example, combining a location-based Tacton (indicating frequency band) with a rhythm-based Tacton (indicating UI element type) creates a spatiotemporal pattern that encodes two parameters at once.
