Musical Accessibility
Also known as: Music Accessibility
The design and practice of making music creation, performance, learning, and appreciation available to people with disabilities. Musical accessibility spans multiple research communities including Human-Computer Interaction and New Interfaces for Musical Expression, addressing needs of individuals who are Blind or Low Vision, d/Deaf or Hard of Hearing, neurodivergent, or who have mobility restrictions. Approaches include alternative notation systems, sensory substitution technologies, accessible instrument design, and inclusive performance environments that engage multiple senses beyond hearing alone.
