Ability-Diverse Collaboration
Also known as: Cross-Ability Collaboration, Mixed-Ability Collaboration
A framework for understanding collaborative interactions between individuals with different abilities, where participants strategically combine and share their capabilities to achieve shared outcomes. The Ability-Diverse Collaboration Framework identifies two key modes of interdependent interaction: ability sharing, where collaborators contribute complementary skills, and ability combining, where different abilities are integrated to accomplish tasks neither could complete alone. This approach challenges traditional models that focus on individual accommodation, instead highlighting how structured, role-sensitive collaboration can reduce information asymmetries and support more inclusive participation in creative and productive activities.
