Interpersonal Accessibility

Also known as: Social Access

The dimension of accessibility that depends on social interactions and communication between people rather than on physical infrastructure or digital technology alone. Interpersonal accessibility encompasses the informal negotiations, requests for help, and explanations of access needs that disabled people engage in daily to navigate inaccessible environments. Language barriers, cultural differences, and unfamiliarity with local social norms can significantly impair interpersonal accessibility, making it a critical but often overlooked factor in cross-cultural and relocation contexts.
