Co-Researcher
Also known as: Community Co-Researcher, Peer Researcher
A person with lived experience of disability who contributes to research not merely as a participant or informant but as an active member of the research team, involved in planning, data collection, analysis, and co-authoring outputs. The co-researcher role goes beyond co-design participation by sharing responsibility for generating knowledge rather than only providing input on design decisions. In inclusive technology research, transitioning participants to co-researchers requires sustained relationship building, institutional support, accessible research methods, and rethinking academic norms around authorship, attribution, and publication formats.
