Shared Movement

Also known as: Linked Locomotion, Guided Movement

A virtual reality interaction technique that allows one user to move through a virtual environment by attaching to or following another user's avatar, inspired by the physical sighted guide technique used by blind and low vision people. In shared movement, a user can grab a guide's avatar arm and be transported alongside them as they navigate. This approach translates the trust-based physical partnership of sighted guiding into virtual spaces, enabling collaborative navigation while preserving the assisted user's agency to release and move independently at any time.
