Switch Access
Also known as: Switch Control, Switch Scanning
A method of computer and device interaction that uses one or more switches as input devices, designed for people who cannot use standard keyboards, mice, or touchscreens due to motor impairments. Switch access is built into major operating systems (iOS Switch Control, Android Switch Access) and works by scanning through interface elements and allowing selection via switch activation. The approach requires careful configuration of scan speed, scan patterns, and timing parameters to match each user's motor abilities and fatigue levels.
