Brave Space

A community or environment where people are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, approach their limits, and try new things while being supported by those around them — as opposed to a "safe space" focused primarily on comfort and protection. In makerspaces and accessibility contexts, brave spaces encourage creative risk-taking, experimentation, and the willingness to fail as part of the design and learning process. This concept is particularly relevant for including disabled makers who may face additional psychological barriers to participation, such as impostor syndrome or assumptions about their capabilities.
