Cognitive Rehabilitation
Also known as: Cognitive Rehab, Neuropsychological Rehabilitation
A structured program of therapeutic activities designed to restore or compensate for cognitive functions impaired by brain injury, stroke, or other neurological conditions. Cognitive rehabilitation targets specific domains such as memory, attention, executive function, language, and problem-solving through both restorative exercises (aimed at improving the impaired function) and compensatory strategies (using tools and techniques to work around deficits). Technology plays an increasing role in cognitive rehabilitation, with conversational agents, smartphone apps, and other digital tools being used for memory aids, cognitive exercises, medication reminders, and daily routine support both during formal therapy and in long-term at-home maintenance.
