Accessible Software
Also known as: Accessible Application, Accessible Program
Software that is designed and developed so that people with disabilities can effectively perceive, understand, navigate, interact with, and contribute using the application. Accessible software properly exposes its interface elements through platform accessibility APIs, supports keyboard navigation, provides adequate programmatic labels and state information for assistive technologies, and follows relevant accessibility standards such as WCAG and platform-specific guidelines. The degree of software accessibility directly impacts whether disabled users can work independently or must rely on peer communities and workarounds to accomplish tasks.
