360-Degree Video
Also known as: 360 Video, VR360, Spherical Video, Omnidirectional Video
Video content recorded or rendered to cover the full 360-degree sphere around the viewer, allowing them to look in any direction during playback. When viewed in a virtual reality headset, 360-degree video provides an immersive experience where users can explore the environment by turning their heads, typically with three degrees of freedom (rotational only). Accessibility challenges specific to 360-degree video include positioning captions and sign language interpreters so they remain findable without obstructing content, providing visual cues to direct attention to off-screen speakers, and managing simulator sickness caused by mismatches between visual motion and physical stillness. No major commercial VR360 player currently supports native sign language overlay beyond burned-in video.
