Financial Accessibility

Also known as: Accessible Banking, Inclusive Finance

The design and provision of financial services, tools, and platforms that are usable by people of all abilities, ages, and levels of digital literacy. Financial accessibility encompasses making banking websites and mobile apps compatible with assistive technologies, designing ATM interfaces with adequate text size and contrast, providing alternative authentication methods for people with motor or cognitive impairments, and ensuring that the rapid shift to digital and cashless payment systems does not exclude older adults, people with disabilities, or those with limited technology experience. As physical bank branches close and cash transactions decline, financial accessibility becomes increasingly critical to independent living and economic participation.
