Accommodation Process
Also known as: Accommodation Workflow, Accommodation Request Process
The organizational workflow through which workplace accommodations for employees with disabilities are requested, negotiated, implemented, and monitored. The accommodation process typically involves multiple stakeholders including the employee, human resources, supervisors, IT staff, and sometimes external parties such as clinicians or vendors. Organizations commonly face challenges with this process including limited stakeholder understanding, lack of formal procedures, and slow information flows. Effective accommodation processes are critical for disability employment, as delays or failures in providing accommodations can prevent disabled employees from performing their jobs equitably.
