Errorless Learning
Also known as: Errorless Teaching, Error-Free Learning
Errorless learning is a teaching methodology that structures tasks so that learners are guided toward correct responses and prevented from making mistakes during the learning process. In accessible technology design, this translates to systems that do not allow incorrect actions to be completed — for example, preventing a wrong puzzle piece from being placed — while still recording the attempt as data for progress monitoring. This approach is particularly effective for people with intellectual disabilities, Down syndrome, and dementia, where repeated errors can cause frustration, reinforce incorrect responses, and undermine confidence. By ensuring consistent success, errorless learning promotes positive reinforcement and encourages continued engagement with learning activities.
