Spoken Web

Also known as: World Wide Telecom Web, WWTW, Telecom Web

An alternative web paradigm designed for people in developing regions who are excluded from the traditional World Wide Web by illiteracy, unaffordability, or lack of locally relevant content. In the Spoken Web, nodes are voice applications called VoiceSites that are created by end users through voice interaction over ordinary phone calls, linked through Hyperspeech Transfer Protocol (HSTP), and browsed through a Telecom Web Browser. The Spoken Web is envisioned as complementary to the existing text-based Web, enabling the "next billion" IT users to access and create information and services using only a basic telephone, without requiring internet access, literacy, or technical skills.
