Content Personalization
Also known as: Accessibility Personalization, Content Adaptation
The practice of tailoring digital content presentation and interaction to match individual users' needs, preferences, and abilities. In accessibility, personalization goes beyond one-size-fits-all approaches by allowing users to specify how they prefer to receive information — for example, choosing text alternatives over images, adjusting color contrast, modifying text size, or selecting preferred input methods. The W3C has developed personalization specifications that define standard ways to mark up content so it can be automatically adapted, enabling assistive technologies and user agents to reshape interfaces based on user profiles without requiring site-by-site customization.
