Kiosk Accessibility

Also known as: Self-Service Kiosk Accessibility, Interactive Kiosk Accessibility

The practice of designing and implementing self-service kiosks and public digital terminals so they can be used by people with a wide range of abilities, including those with visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive disabilities. Kiosk accessibility encompasses hardware considerations (such as physical reach, screen height, and tactile controls), software considerations (such as screen reader compatibility, text resizing, and colour contrast), and interaction design (such as timeout settings, simplified workflows, and alternative input methods). Standards like the ADA and EN 301 549 include requirements for accessible self-service terminals.
