Accessible Maps
Also known as: Accessible Mapping, Accessible Cartography
Maps and navigation tools designed to be usable by people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, motor, and cognitive impairments. Accessible maps address both the digital accessibility of the map interface itself (such as screen reader compatibility, colour contrast, and alternative representations) and the content shown on the map (such as identifying physical barriers, accessible routes, and facilities). Modern accessible mapping often combines crowdsourced data, sensor information, and expert assessments to provide personalised routing that avoids barriers relevant to each user's specific needs.
