ISO 24751
Also known as: ISO/IEC 24751, Individualized Adaptability and Accessibility in E-Learning
ISO 24751 (Individualized Adaptability and Accessibility in E-Learning, Education and Training) is an international standard for matching the accessibility features of digital learning resources and environments to the needs and preferences of individual learners. Published in 2008, the standard closely mirrors the IMS AccessForAll specifications and consists of multiple parts: a framework overview, a standard for describing learners' access needs (Personal Needs and Preferences, or PNP), and a standard for describing the accessibility properties of digital resources (Digital Resource Description, or DRD). ISO 24751 enables learning management systems to automatically adapt content delivery based on individual profiles — for example, providing audio alternatives for visual content to a blind learner, or simplified language for a learner with cognitive disabilities. The standard was first implemented in the ATutor open-source LMS and has influenced subsequent accessibility standards in educational technology and digital publishing.
