Artificial Intelligence
Also known as: AI
Computer systems designed to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, including visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and language translation. In accessibility, AI powers many assistive technologies such as image recognition apps that describe photos to blind users, automatic captioning for deaf viewers, predictive text for motor-impaired users, and real-time sign language translation. While AI offers significant potential for accessibility, concerns include algorithmic bias that may disadvantage disabled users, privacy implications of data collection, and the risk of AI-generated content (like automatic alt text) being inaccurate or inappropriate without human review.
