Perfect Pitch
Also known as: Absolute Pitch, AP
The innate ability to identify or reproduce musical pitches without the aid of a reference note. People with perfect pitch can recognize and name any musical note by its pitch alone. For blind and low vision musicians, perfect pitch can be a significant advantage, serving as a tool for memorizing and identifying music without relying on visual notation. Research suggests BLV people may exhibit higher levels of musical aptitude including perfect pitch, possibly due to enhanced auditory processing.
