Directional Guidance

Also known as: Navigation Guidance, Orientation Feedback

Real-time feedback that helps users maintain correct positioning or navigate toward a target, commonly provided through audio cues (such as pitch changes) or haptic signals (such as vibration patterns). In accessible reading systems, directional guidance indicates when a user should move up or down to stay on a line of text. In navigation contexts, it guides users toward destinations. Effective directional guidance must be intuitive, minimize cognitive load, and avoid interfering with primary tasks like listening to text-to-speech output.
