Myopathy

Also known as: Muscle Disease

A group of disorders affecting skeletal muscle function, characterized by muscle weakness, cramping, stiffness, or wasting. Myopathies can be inherited (muscular dystrophies) or acquired (inflammatory myopathies, metabolic myopathies). For digital accessibility, people with myopathies may have difficulty with fine motor control, sustained mouse use, or keyboard input, requiring alternative input methods such as switch access, voice control, or eye tracking. Fatigue is common, making adaptive interfaces that adjust to changing motor capabilities particularly valuable.
