Motion Gaming
Also known as: Motion-Based Gaming, Gesture-Based Gaming
Video games that use body movements as input, typically through motion-sensing controllers (Nintendo Wii) or depth cameras (Microsoft Kinect) rather than traditional button-based controllers. Motion gaming has significant applications in rehabilitation, where it can make repetitive therapeutic exercises more engaging and motivating for patients recovering from brain injuries, strokes, or other conditions. However, motion games present accessibility challenges for people with motor impairments who may not be able to perform the required movements, and for people with visual impairments who cannot see on-screen visual feedback.
