Image Enhancement

Also known as: Image Pre-Compensation, Visual Enhancement

Image enhancement in the context of accessibility refers to techniques that modify digital images or on-screen content to improve their visibility and usability for people with visual impairments. Methods include contrast adjustment, edge highlighting, color remapping, magnification, and image pre-compensation (modifying images so they appear clearer when viewed through imperfect optics). These techniques can be applied at the display level, operating system level, or application level to support users with low vision, refractive errors, or conditions like macular degeneration and cataracts.
