EVITA
Also known as: Enabling Visually Impaired Table Access
A specialized table browser developed at the University of Manchester designed to enable visually impaired users to navigate, browse, and read HTML data tables non-visually in a manner analogous to how sighted readers interact with tables in print. EVITA provides keyboard-based navigation across rows, columns, and individual cells with contextual information including row and column headers, cell position, and table structure overview. It supports multiple reading modes including row-by-row, column-by-column, and cell intersection access, allowing users to actively control the information flow rather than passively receiving linearized content from a screen reader.
