Online Braille

Also known as: Web Braille, Digital Braille, Electronic Braille

Online Braille refers to Braille content that is generated, distributed, or accessed through the Internet or digital platforms, as opposed to traditional embossed paper Braille. This includes web-based Braille translation services, downloadable Braille-formatted files such as those provided by the Library of Congress Web-Braille service, and systems that convert web text into Braille output in real time via refreshable Braille displays or alternative haptic feedback devices. Online Braille expands access to the vast amount of information available on the Internet for Braille readers, though it typically requires either a refreshable Braille display or Braille translation software to be usable.
