Manual Muscle Testing
Also known as: MMT, Muscle Strength Testing
Manual muscle testing (MMT) is a clinical assessment technique used by occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals to evaluate the strength of individual muscles or muscle groups. The examiner applies resistance to the patient's movement and grades the muscle's ability to contract against gravity and external force, typically on a scale from 0 (no contraction) to 5 (normal strength). In accessibility and assistive technology contexts, MMT results help determine what types of input devices, assistive technologies, or adaptations a person with motor impairments may need to interact with computers and other technology effectively.
