Collaborative Ideation

Also known as: Group brainstorming, Co-ideation

The joint process by which a group generates, refines, clusters, and converges on ideas, typically alternating between divergent and convergent thinking. Collaborative ideation is a cornerstone of design, research, and creative practice and is commonly supported by digital whiteboards, sticky-note tools, and affinity-diagramming techniques. Accessibility challenges arise because most ideation tools privilege visual modalities — freeform spatial layout, rapid cursor glances, drag-and-drop — which exclude blind and low-vision participants and other screen-reader users.
