Abundant Design
Also known as: Abundant UI Design
A design approach for cognitively accessible interfaces in which primary actions are represented by multiple redundant cues — short text, an icon, a distinctive color, and ample size — so users can identify the control through whichever channel suits them. Contrasts with minimal or icon-only designs that can fail users with low literacy, dyslexia, or intellectual disabilities. Empirical research with Easy-to-Read users shows abundant button design can achieve near-universal task success where icon-only or text-only buttons do not.
