Partial Trisomy 9p

Also known as: 9p Duplication Syndrome, Rethore Syndrome

A rare chromosomal condition in which a portion of the short arm of chromosome 9 is present in triplicate rather than in duplicate. The condition is associated with intellectual disability, distinctive craniofacial features, developmental delay, and in many cases co-occurring speech and motor delays. Digital accessibility considerations overlap with those for intellectual disability more broadly — plain language, simplified interfaces, visual scaffolding, and tolerance for atypical speech in voice interfaces — and often also with motor-disability accommodations.
