VB-MAPP
Also known as: Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program
The VB-MAPP (Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program), developed by Mark Sundberg, is a criterion-referenced assessment and curriculum-planning tool for children with autism and other developmental disabilities. Grounded in Skinner's analysis of verbal behaviour, it evaluates 170 milestones across domains such as mand (requesting), tact (naming), echoic, intraverbal, listener responding, and social behaviour, staged across three developmental levels (0-48 months equivalent). VB-MAPP is widely used in applied-behaviour-analysis-informed speech therapy and special education to set individualized, measurable learning objectives and to track progress over time.
